How they work

Custom impressions
and fitting help

Your custom piece starts with an impression of your teeth, so our jewelers can make it around your shape. Follow the steps below for custom impressions. If you already own pre-made grillz, we have fitting help for those too.

Custom fitted

Choose a design in solid sterling silver or gold. Usable impressions of your teeth give our jewelers the shape they need to make your piece. You take or arrange the impressions, then send them to us for production.

Pre-made support

Earlier plated styles use a standard size and are adjusted with a silicone fitting bar. The guidance below is for customers who already have a pre-made set.

Custom fitted grillz

Custom fitted designs are made from usable impressions of your teeth. Options include .925 sterling silver and 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, white or rose finishes, depending on the product. Styles may include solid, connecting bridge, open face, fangs, diamond dust or cuts, deep cuts and stones. Review the options on your chosen product.

Choose the $30 CGG mold kit or the $0 option if you will send your own usable molds. The kit includes impression materials, trays, instructions and a prepaid return label. If you send your own impressions, we email label instructions. A dentist or licensed professional can also take impressions if you prefer.

Taking impressions with the CGG kit

  1. Mix the white and blue putty for about 30 seconds until the color is even. Roll it and place it in the tray.
  2. Lift your lip, then place the tray straight over your teeth. Press so the impression includes the gum line and keep the tray still.
  3. Wait about six minutes, then gently wiggle the tray free. Avoid pulling it straight down; check that the gum line is visible.
  4. Bag the molds and send them back with the supplied prepaid return label. If you are unsure whether they are usable, contact our team before mailing.

Follow the instructions supplied with your kit if they differ from this overview. Solid styles are estimated to ship 4–5 weeks after we receive your usable molds, iced styles 5–6 weeks; estimates, not guarantees. See the shipping policy for the details.

SUPPORT FOR EXISTING CUSTOMERS

Pre-made grillz fitting

Earlier pre-made grillz generally use a jeweler's brass or stainless-steel core with gold plating. Unlike a custom set, a pre-made set does not require mailing a tooth impression. Its silicone bar softens for at-home adjustment. Follow the instructions that came with your particular set.

  1. Gently adjust the grill and prongs to the shape of your mouth and teeth.
  2. Place the included silicone bar between the rear prongs and lightly tighten the prongs to hold it.
  3. Place the grill and silicone bar in hot water, approximately 107°F. After about 15 seconds, the bar should soften and turn clear. Handle hot water carefully.
  4. Remove the set carefully and place it on your teeth. Hold it in place for about 30 seconds while the silicone firms, adjusting if needed.
